The Binghamton Rangers were an American ice hockey franchise of the American Hockey League based in Binghamton , New York . The Rangers' venue was the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena .
history
The Binghamton Rangers were founded in 1990 as the successor to the Binghamton Whalers . In the seven years of its existence, the Rangers reached the playoffs six times, in which they were only eliminated four times in the second round. In their first three seasons Binghamton was subject to the Rochester Americans , while they were eliminated in their last two seasons in the first playoff round. After the Hartford Whalers were relocated from the National Hockey League and renamed the Carolina Hurricanes in 1997, the Binghamton Rangers were relocated to Hartford , Connecticut , where they have since played as the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American Hockey League .
