Jean-Yves Roy (* 17th February 1969 in Rosemère , Quebec ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player , who in his active period from 1989 to 2006 included the New York Rangers , Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League , the and Kölner Haie played in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Jean-Yves Roy studied from 1989 to 1992 at the University of Maine , for whose ice hockey team he was also active in Hockey East . With the team he won the championship of Hockey East in the 1991/92 season. On July 20, 1992 he signed a contract as a free agent with the New York Rangers from the National Hockey League . In the following three years, however, he played almost exclusively for their farm team Binghamton Rangers in the American Hockey League . Only in the 1994/95 season he was in three games for the New York Rangers in the NHL on the ice. For the 1995/96 season , the winger was transferred to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Steve Larouche . There, too, he only came to four NHL missions, while he spent the entire remaining season with their AHL farm team Prince Edward Island Senators . From 1996 to 1998 he played for the Boston Bruins , where he got significantly more ice ages in the NHL. At the same time, however, he was also regularly on the ice with their AHL farm team Providence Bruins .
For the 1998/99 season Roy was signed by the EC VSV from the Austrian Ice Hockey League . At his first stop in Europe he was Austrian champion straight away . He made a significant contribution to this success with 85 scorer points, including 38 goals, in a total of 52 games. In the 1999/2000 season he was on the ice for the Kölner Haie in the German Ice Hockey League . In the following three years, he joined for Friborg-Gottéron from the Swiss National League A in. The 1994 Olympian then returned to the Cologne Sharks in the DEL, where he ended his career at the age of 37 following the 2005/06 season.

For Canada , Roy took part in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , where he won the silver medal with his team.
