Jade Jones , MBE (born March 21, 1993 in Bodelwyddan , Denbighshire ) is a British Taekwondoin from Wales . She is a two-time Olympic champion in the weight class up to 57 kilograms.

Jones started taekwondo at the age of eight. She is training at the Manchester Performance Center today . Her breakthrough in the international top came in 2010. First she was runner-up in the class up to 55 kilograms at the Junior World Championships in Tijuana , and a little later she won the gold medal in the same class at the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore . With bronze at the European Championships in Saint Petersburg , she was then able to win her first international medal in the adult category.

Jones celebrated the next success the following year at the World Championships in Gyeongju , where she was able to reach the final, where Hou Yuzhuo was narrowly defeated and thus won the World Cup silver medal. At the European Home Championship in Manchester in 2012 , Jones was able to repeat winning the European Championship bronze medal. The British Federation claimed a starting place in Jones' weight class for the 2012 Olympic Games in 2011 . In the final she won the gold medal with 6: 4 points against world champion Hou Yuzhuo from China. In 2016 she defended her Olympic title in this weight class at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with a 16: 7 win against the Spanish Eva Calvo . In 2017 she won bronze at the World Cup, and in 2019 she finally won the title in Manchester .
