Youth Olympic Summer Games 2010 / Taekwondo

At the 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , ten Taekwondo competitions were held from August 15 to 19, 2010 .

Boys

Up to 48 kg

The final competitions took place on August 15th.

• On August 16, 2010, the final of Taekwondo up to 48 kg was to be held, for which an Israeli and an Iranian had qualified. Before the final, however, the Iranian support team announced that Mohammad Soleimani had injured his leg so badly that it was impossible for him to take part in the final. Observers believe that the Iranians did not let their athletes fight an Israeli because Iran does not see Israel as a sovereign state and it would have been a shame for the Iranian to have had to stand under an Israeli flag at the award ceremony. Gili Haimovitz therefore won the final without a fight.
• Semih Gökmen was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
