Tahir Gülec (born February 25, 1993 in Nuremberg ; international: Tahir Güleç ) is a German Taekwondo of Turkish descent.

At the 2013 World Championships in Puebla , Mexico , he became world champion in the weight class up to 80 kilograms with an 8: 7 win in the final against the Mexican Rene Lizarraga Valenzuela . Two years later he won bronze at the 2015 World Championships in Chelyabinsk , Russia , as he lost 6-8 to Iranian Mahdi Khodabakhshi in the semifinals .

In 2016 he took part in the Taekwondo competitions at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . There he made it to the quarterfinals, but lost in this against Cheick Sallah Cissé from the Ivory Coast . Because he later made it to the final, Gülec was able to fight for a place in the battle for bronze in the hope round. In the hope round, however, he was narrowly defeated by the Polish Piotr Paziński by golden point.

In 2009, 2011 and 2013 Gülec was also German Taekwondo Champion in various weight classes.

His sister Rabia is also Taekwondoin.
