WTF Taekwondo World Championships

The WT Taekwondo World Championships are the international championships in Taekwondo held by the World Taekwondo (WT) . They have been held every two years since 1973, the year WT was founded. Since the origins of Taekwondo lie in Korea and the WT was founded there, the first world championship took place in Seoul . South Korea is also by far the most successful team at the previous world championships.

Weight classes

Until 1985 only competitions for men were held, since 1987 women have also been fighting for medals. The following weight classes are being held today at the World Championships:

In addition to competitive Taekwondo (full contact), World Cups in Form Taekwondo have been held since 2006 - Poomse at the WT, Hyeong at the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF).
