Binghamton is a city in Broome County and its administrative seat in the US state of New York . Binghamton is located at the confluence of the Chenango River in the Susquehanna River and has 47,376 inhabitants (as of 2010 ).

Binghamton was the birthplace of IBM . Binghamton University is located here . McIntosh Laboratory produces the high-end hi-fi devices of the same name in Binghamton .

Binghamton hit the headlines on April 3, 2009 when the American Civic Association (ACA) building was the scene of a hostage drama in which 13 hostages and the 41-year-old perpetrator were killed.
