Jerry Vincent D'Amigo (born February 19, 1991 in Binghamton , New York ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with ERC Ingolstadt in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) since July 2018 .
Career
Jerry D'Amigo began his career with the Binghamton junior Senators , the youth team of the AHL team of the same name from his hometown. In 2007 he was selected by the Kitchener Rangers in the twelfth round of the OHL Priority Selection in a total of 238th place. However, he did not move to Ontario, but completed the USA Hockey National Team Development Program from 2007 to 2009 and played in the North American Hockey League with the United States' U18 team during this time . Then he drafted the Toronto Maple Leafs in the sixth round of the NHL Entry Draft as a total of 158 players. After a year in the team of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute , in which he was selected as Rookie of the Year in both the All-Rookie Team and the All-Academic Team of the National Collegiate Athletic Association , he was named by Lokomotive Yaroslavl drawn in the seventh round of the KHL Junior Draft .
Instead of going to Russia, he signed a contract with his last year's NHL draft club. The Maple Leafs mainly used it on their farm team, the Toronto Marlies , and in February 2011 they even gave it to the OHL club Kitchener Rangers until the end of the season. In 2012 he was the second best scorer in the AHL playoffs behind his clubmate Matt Frattin and reached the playoff final with the Marlies, which was lost with four defeats from four games against the Norfolk Admirals . It was only in the 2013/14 season that he made 22 appearances, including the NHL Winter Classic 2014 , in the National Hockey League . In the summer of 2014, the Columbus Blue Jackets signed him and gave Matt Frattin to the Maple Leafs. The Blue Jackets turned him into their farm team, the Springfield Falcons . In December of that year he switched to the Buffalo Sabers in exchange for Luke Adam . Here, too, he mainly plays for the farm team, the Rochester Americans , in the AHL.
After the 2015/16 season, his expiring contract in Buffalo was not renewed, so he joined Tampereen Ilves from the Finnish Liiga in October .
International
Internationally, D'Amigo first appeared in 2008 with the US U17 selection at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge , when the US boys finished second behind the team from the Canadian province of Ontario . A year later he became world champion in this age group with the U18 selection of the Americans . As the second best goal setter behind the Finn Mikael Granlund (and together with his compatriot Toni Rajala ) he was also elected to the All-Star team of the World Cup. Also in 2010 - now with the U20 national team - he won the World Cup . Together with the Canadian Taylor Hall he was the third-best scorer behind Derek Stepan (USA) and Jordan Eberle (Canada). In his last junior year in 2011 he won the bronze medal again with his team.
