Mirko Höfflin (born June 18, 1992 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German ice hockey player who will be under contract with ERC Ingolstadt from the 2019/20 season .
Career
Mirko Höfflin began his career as an ice hockey player with Jungadler Mannheim , for which he was active in the German junior league from 2007 to 2010 . In each of the three seasons, the attacker was the German junior champion with his team. In the 2009/10 season he was also deanr DNL's top scorer with 32 goals in the main round. For Heilbronner Falken from the second hockey league he was in the same season his debut in professional hockey when he gave three assists in 23 games.
Then the German junior international was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2010 in the sixth round as a total of 151 players by the Chicago Blackhawks . Höfflin was invited to the Blackhawks' training camp, but there was no further collaboration between the player and the NHL team in the future. Höfflin decided to move to North America and played in the 2010/11 season for the Québec Remparts in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . After a season in Québec, he was transferred from the Remparts to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in exchange for Jérémie Malouin . In the Canadian junior league in particular, his speed and quality in goal preparation were valued.
When Höfflin had reached the age limit for participation in the junior league, he returned to the German ice hockey league before the 2012/13 season and signed a two-year contract with his youth club Adler Mannheim . With three goals at the beginning of the season he was able to convince and was voted Player of the Month for October 2012 by the fans of his new club. Even if he could no longer achieve the points values of the previous season in the championship season 2014/15 , his contract with the Adler was prematurely extended to 2017. In order to gain more match practice, Höfflin was loaned out to league rivals Straubing Tigers for one year in May 2015 . After a season in Lower Bavaria, Höfflin will return to the Eagles for the 2016/17 season.
International
For Germany , Höfflin took part in the U18 Junior World Championship 2009 , the U18 Junior B World Championship in 2010 and the U20 Junior B World Championship in 2010 . In 2010 he was promoted to the top division of the respective age group with both the U18 and the U20. Höfflin also played at the U20 World Junior Championship in 2011 .
On April 10, 2014, at the international match against France in Weißwasser , Höfflin made his debut for the German national ice hockey team . His first major international tournament was the 2018 World Cup in Denmark .
