Mike Collins (born May 25, 1990 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with ERC Ingolstadt from the German Ice Hockey League since June 2017 .

Career

Collins began his career in the 2008-09 season with the Vernon Vipers in the Canadian junior league British Columbia Hockey League and won there with his team in the years 2009 and 2010 Championship . Between 2010 and 2014 he was on the ice for the university team at Merrimack College in Hockey East , which is part of the NCAA's game operations . There the attacker was able to convince with solid offensive values ​​and received a trial contract ( try-out ) from the Providence Bruins from the American Hockey League in March 2014 . After only four games, he moved within the league to the Iowa Wild , but remained there without scorer points.

In the summer of 2014, Collins decided to move to Europe and played for the Kassel Huskies in the DEL2 in the 2014/15 season . In Kassel, the winger became the most attacking player in the league with 27 hits and 54 assists and was then signed by the Krefeld Penguins from the German Ice Hockey League in June 2015 . In his first DEL season 2015/16 he reached 25 points and in his second season 2016/17 he was the most successful goalscorer for the Niederrhein club with 16 goals (35 points). Nevertheless, there was no further contract extension with the penguins.

In June 2017, Collins switched to ERC Ingolstadt within the DEL . In his first season for the Donaustädter he was behind Darin Olver with the best points in his team and was considered very committed and team-oriented, so that his contract was extended for another 2 years at the end of the season. The following season 2018/19 Collins scored 45 points (20 goals) and was the most successful scorer and striker of his team after the preliminary round.
