Brandon Mashinter (born September 20, 1988 in Bradford , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with ERC Ingolstadt from the German Ice Hockey League since December 2018 and played for the center . Mashinter previously spent his entire professional career in North America, where he played 66 games in the National Hockey League and 557 other games in the American Hockey League .
Career
Mashinter began his junior career at the age of 16 in the 2004/05 season with the Thornhill Thunderbirds in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League , a second-rate league in the Canadian Hockey League . The year before he had played a game for the Thornhill Major Islanders in the same league. During the 2004/05 season, the striker was also used for the Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Hockey League . In total, he played eight encounters for the Sting and 49 for the Thunderbirds. For the 2005/06 season, Mashinter moved permanently to Sarnia . In two years he played 120 games for the Sting, in which he posted 13 goals and nine assists . The 2007/08 season spent Mashinter at league rivals Kitchener Rangers after he was transferred there in the summer. The versatile attacker had a good season with the Rangers. He himself reached 20 points scorer in the regular season and finally won the J. Ross Robertson Cup in the playoffs , to which he contributed another four points. The following season, which with 58 points from just 52 games should be his statistically most successful in the junior division, he began with the Rangers. In December 2008, however, he was given to the Belleville Bulls . There he ended the season.
In March 2009, the undrafted Mashinter was signed by the San Jose Sharks from the National Hockey League . After participating in the team's training camp in September 2009, he found himself on the farm team , the Worcester Sharks from the American Hockey League , the following month . There he spent a successful first season in the senior sector. With 22 hits, he was one of the most accurate Sharks players. His good performances, which he also took into the 2010/11 season , finally led to his debut in the NHL for San Jose on December 29, 2010.
After the NHL lockout ended in January 2013, the San Jose Sharks transferred him to the New York Rangers in exchange for Tommy Grant and a six- round suffrage in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft , who added the striker to their AHL farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack , ordered. In December of the same year, the Rangers gave Mashinter to the Chicago Blackhawks , where he played for the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL. New York received Kyle Beach in exchange . After four and a half years in the Blackhawks organization, he returned to the San Jose Sharks as a free agent in September 2017 . They used him exclusively with the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL, before his expiring contract was not extended in July 2018.
It was not until November 2018 that Mashinter received a new contract from the ECHL at the Rapid City Rush , which was terminated after five missions, as he moved to the German ice hockey league at ERC Ingolstadt .
