David Elsner (born March 22, 1992 in Landshut ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with ERC Ingolstadt in the German Ice Hockey League since May 2015 .
Career
David Elsner began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of EV Landshut , for which he was active in the German youth league from 2007 to 2011 . In the 2009/10 season , the attacker also made his debut for the club's professional division, the Landshut Cannibals, in the 2nd Bundesliga and scored six goals in a total of 35 games and provided three more assists. Then the German junior international was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2010 in the seventh round as a total of 194th player by the Nashville Predators . For the 2010/11 season Elsner received a support license from ERC Ingolstadt from the DEL . In his three appearances for Ingolstadt, he scored one goal.
For the 2011/12 season he moved to Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds from the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . In 2013 Elsner signed a two-year contract with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers from the DEL. With a sponsorship license, he continues to play for his home team EVL Landshut in the DEL2 . Elsner came to ERC Ingolstadt in May 2015 and extended his contract to 2019 in March 2017.
International
For Germany Elsner took part in the U18 Junior B World Championship in 2010 , where he and his team were promoted to the top division. In March 2018 he was appointed to the German men's national ice hockey team for the first time by national coach Marco Sturm .
