The Memorial Cup 2008 was the 90th edition of the tournament of the same name . The tournament was held May 16-25 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener , Ontario . Participating teams were the champions of their respective leagues, the Gatineau Olympiques ( Québec Major Junior Hockey League ) and the Spokane Chiefs ( Western Hockey League ). The Kitchener Rangers were set to host the tournament, but would also have qualified for the tournament as champions of the Ontario Hockey League . The fourth team was the Belleville Bulls , who were defeated by the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL final. The tournament was televised nationwide on Rogers Sportsnet in Canada . In the United States , the games were available on the NHL Network .

The Spokane Chiefs won their second Memorial Cup after beating the Kitchener Rangers in the final in 1991 .
