Dustin Michael Tokarski (born September 16, 1989 in Humboldt , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League since July 2019 .
Career
Tokarski grew up in Watson, Saskatchewan. At the age of 14, he began his career with the Prince Albert Mintos (Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League), with whom he won the Telus Cup, or the Canadian Midget National Championship, in his first season (2005/06). A year later he went to the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League , for which he was active for three seasons. With the Chiefs, he won the Ed Chynoweth Cup in 2008 and the 2008 Memorial Cup .
In the 2009/10 season he was the goalkeeper of the Norfolk Admirals in the American Hockey League and was in 55 games. Tokarski achieved a catch quota of 91.5 percent. He made his NHL debut on January 16, 2010 against the Florida Panthers , when he came on for the Finns Antero Niittymäki in the last third .
On February 14, 2013 Tokarski was transferred to the Canadiens de Montréal in exchange for Cédrick Desjardins . His first appearance for Montreal was on March 5, 2014 in a game against the Anaheim Ducks , which Montreal won 4-3 after a shootout. On March 16, he won his first shutout 2-0 against the Buffalo Sabers . On May 19, 2014 it was announced that he would play in the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Rangers in place of the injured Carey Price .
After Tokarski had completely spent the 2014/15 season as second goalkeeper behind Carey Price (and came on 17 NHL appearances), he lost that place in preparation for the 2015/16 season to Mike Condon and was returned to the Bulldogs in sent the AHL. In January 2016 Tokarski was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Max Friberg within the NHL . For the Canadiens, Tokarski was only fourth goalkeeper after signing Ben Scrivens .
Tokarski was also used almost exclusively in the AHL with the San Diego Gulls in the Ducks and was finally handed over to the Philadelphia Flyers in October 2017 without any further consideration . However, a little later, Leland Irving's move from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to the San Diego Gulls was announced. His expiring contract was not renewed after the 2017/18 season, so he joined the New York Rangers as a free agent . From their farm team , the Hartford Wolf Pack , it was awarded to the Charlotte Checkers in February 2019 within the AHL in exchange for Josh Wesley . With the Checkers he won the Calder Cup at the end of the season .
For the 2019/20 season, Tokarski signed an AHL-limited contract with the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins .

Tokarski represented his home country Canada at the U20 World Junior Championships 2009 in Canada. There he won the gold medal with his team.
