European Natural Track Luge Championships 1981

The 9th  FIL Natural Track Luge European Championship took place from February 4th to 8th, 1981 in Niedernsill , Austria .

They were held on the Luziawald toboggan run at USK Niedernsill.

After their eightfold victory in 1977, the Italian team even celebrated a tenfold victory this year. Otto Bachmann , third in the world championship last year and second in the European Championship two years ago, was European champion in the single-seater. The defending champion Damiano Lugon won the silver medal. Bronze went to Othmar Neulichedl , who won his only medal in championships.

The reigning world champion Delia Vaudan from Italy became European champion in the women's singles. The silver medal was won by the 1977 European champion, Helene Mitterstieler from Italy. Third place went to the European champion from 1973 and 1978, Elfriede Pirkmann from Austria.

The Austrians Alfred Kogler and Franz Huber were European champions in the two-seater . Her compatriots Hubert Mairamhof and Herbert Huber won the silver medal . The brothers Manfred and Willi Danklmaier from Austria came in third .
