European Natural Track Luge Championships 2014

The 25th European Natural Track Luge Championships of the Fédération Internationale de Luge de Course (FIL) took place from January 17th to 19th, 2014 in Umhausen , Austria .

Since the results of the European Championships also counted as World Cup results, all normally active tobogganers took part. For the European championship, however, only the times and runs of the tobogganists from Germany , Italy , Austria , Poland , Russia , Switzerland , Slovenia , Turkey , Ukraine and the United Kingdom counted . Jekaterina Lavrentjewa won the women's singles, Patrick Pigneter and Florian Clara won the doubles and the Italian team with Melanie Schwarz , Alex Gruber and the doubles Patrick Pigneter and Florian Clara won the team competition. In the men's single-seater, the title went to Patrick Pigneter from Italy.

The Italian Patrick Pigneter secured his third European title in the single-seater with the best running times in both series . He won ahead of local hero Thomas Kammerlander and his team-mate Alex Gruber from Italy.

The Russian Jekaterina Lavrentjewa was the fastest time in both races for the fourth time in a row and for the fifth time European champion in the single-seater. The silver medal went to the Italian Melanie Schwarz , for whom it was the first European Championship medal in a single seater. The bronze medal went to the Austrian Tina Unterberger .

Team Italy I with Melanie Schwarz won the team competition, which was held for the third time at the European Championships . Silver went to Russia and bronze to Austria. A total of nine teams were at the start, although as a change to 2012 each country only sent one team to the competition.
