The Austrian Gernot Schwab won the gold medal with the best times in all three races. In second place another Austrian, Thomas Schopf , who won his first medal at major events. He was six hundredths of a second ahead of bronze medalist Patrick Pigneter from Italy, who achieved the second fastest time in the second and third races - while Schopf only finished fifth - but had already lost too much time on Schopf in the first run. Defending champion Gerhard Pilz was 16.

The Italian Christa Gietl was able to make up for her deficit from the first two runs with the fastest time in the third run and won three hundredths of a second ahead of her teammate Imelda Gruber , who had won the first run. Renate Gietl was in the lead after setting the fastest time in the second run before the finals, but lost a lot of time in this and was ultimately third. The defending champion and big favorite Yekaterina Lavrentjewa from Russia, who had won all the World Cup races of the season, came in fifth.

The defending champions Pawel Porschnew and Iwan Lasarew from Russia became European champions in the doubles for the second time with best times in both races. With the second best running time, the Austrians Christian Schatz and Gerhard Mühlbacher won the silver medal. The Russians Denis Alimow and Roman Molwistow achieved only the fourth-best running time, but achieved third place in the final ranking.
