Daniel Quitta (born May 29, 1975 in Bozen ) is a former Italian natural track luge . He lives in Ortisei in Val Gardena and started in a single-seater. Quitta took part in World Cup races from 1999 to 2006 , was among the top ten seven times and was placed in the top 10 twice in the overall World Cup. At world and European championships his best result was eleventh place.
Career
Daniel Quitta only took part in international junior championships once: at the 1995 European junior championship in Saint-Marcel / Fénis , he finished twelfth. In 1999, the 24-year-old was finally accepted into the national team of the Italian Winter Sports Federation . From then on it was used in the World Cup , where it only took part in all six races in its first season, 1999/2000 . In this first season he just missed a place in the top ten several times, only once in Stein an der Enns he came in eighth in the top 10. In the overall World Cup he achieved tenth place with consistent results. At the 2000 World Championships in Olang , he finished 13th.
In the winter of 2000/2001 , Quitta only took part in the last World Cup race in Hüttau , which he finished in twelfth place. He was also absent from the 2001 World Cup . The next World Cup season began Quitta with three top 10 results, with eighth place in the second race in Olang his best result. In the second half of the season he achieved two twelfth places, with which he reached ninth place in the overall World Cup and thus his best overall result. The 2002/2003 season brought similar results . In the four races in which he took part, he was able to place himself back to tenth place, but in the overall World Cup he fell back to 15th place with one race less. He also achieved 15th place at the 2002 European Championships in Frantschach-Sankt Gertraud and the 2003 World Championships in Železniki .
In the next few years, Daniel Quitta took part in fewer World Cup races again. In the 2003/2004 season he started in three races, but did not get past twelfth place. At the 2004 European Championships in Hüttau he was 14th . Quitta only had one World Cup start in the winter of 2004/2005 . He finished the race in Latzfons in eleventh position. At the beginning of the 2005/2006 season he competed in his last two World Cup races and achieved the best World Cup result of his career with seventh place in Longiarü . At his last major event, the 2006 European Championship in Umhausen , he achieved his best career result in title fights in eleventh place. During the next two years Daniel Quitta started in the Intercontinental Cup, where he finished fourth overall with a win, a second and a fourth place in the 2006/2007 season. After 2008 he did not take part in any international competitions.
