In the FIL European Luge Natural Track Championships , the European champion in 1970 have been used for tobogganing in the disciplines seater (men and women) and doubles determined. Since 2010 there has also been a team competition (one woman, one man, one two-seater). Since the 2019/20 season, the team competition has been held with a woman and a man. In contrast to the European Luge Championship, the European Championships are not held on the artificial ice rink, but on natural tracks. The races are organized by the FIL . So far there have only been medal winners from four different associations: Austria, Italy, Russia (and previously the Soviet Union / CIS) and Poland. In the men's single-seaters, all medals awarded so far have only gone to starters from Austria and Italy. Since the best athletes come exclusively from Europe, the European Champion has almost the same status as the winner of the Natural Track Luge World Championship .

Regulations

The decision in the European Natural Track Luge Championships is currently made differently in the single-seaters than in the European Artificial Track Luge Championships in three runs. For the doubles, the European Championship will be decided in two races. In the team competition, since the 2020/21 season, one single-seater each for women and men has been doing one round each. Until 1999, with three exceptions, the European Championship was always held in odd years. The current regulations stipulate that it always takes place in even years (i.e. 2018, 2020, 2022). The European Natural Track Luge Championship is not part of the World Cup , and no World Cup points are awarded.
