The Italian Anton Blasbichler became European single-seater champion for the second time since 1993. Second was the Austrian Robert Batkowski , who won his first medal at major events. It was also the first medal in championships for third-placed Gerald Kallan , also from Austria.

The Italian Sonja Steinacher became European champion in the women's singles. At the last European Championship she had already won the bronze medal. The silver medal went to the Austrian Elvira Holzknecht , who was also second at the last European Championship. Third-placed Christa Gietl won her first European Championship medal. In the previous year she was second at the World Cup.

The Austrians Andi and Helmut Ruetz became European champions in the doubles for the third time in a row. They were the first two-seater couple to do this. Silver went to their compatriots Peter Lechner and Peter Braunegger , who won their first medal in championships. It was also the first medal for third-placed Armin and David Mair .
