The Austrian Gerhard Pilz became European single-seater champion for the second time in a row. The silver medal went to the Italian Andreas Castiglioni , third was Gerald Kallan from Austria.

The Russian Jekaterina Lavrentjewa , who was already world champion in 2000, was European champion in the women's singles with best times in all three races. Second place went to the Italian Christa Gietl , who had previously won several medals at world and European championships. Third place went to Barbara Abart , also from Italy, who won her first medal at major events. The defending champion Sandra Lanthaler finished ninth.

The Russians Pawel Porschnew and Ivan Lasarew , who had already finished second in the World Championship a year earlier, set the fastest times in both races and became European champions in the doubles. Your compatriots Denis Alimow and Roman Molwistow achieved the second best time and won the silver medal. The defending champions and reigning world champions Wolfgang and Andreas Schopf from Austria went third with the third fastest time .
