In the same winter, she also took part in a world championship in the general class for the first time in Olang , finishing seventh in the single-seater.

At the beginning of the 2000/2001 World Cup season , the then 17-year-old achieved second place in Umhausen , her first podium and at the same time her best result in a World Cup race to date. In the overall World Cup, she achieved fifth place with another three top 5 results. At the 2001 World Championships in Stein an der Enns, she won the silver medal in the team competition held for the first time in the team Austria II together with Gerhard Pilz , Peter Lechner and Peter Braunegger .

In the 2001/2002 season she could not quite match the previous year's results in the World Cup and fell back to eighth place overall, tied with Russian Julija Wetlowa . Her greatest success this winter was at the Austrian Championships in 2002, when she became Austrian state champion in single-seater for the first time. In the 2002/2003 season she achieved her second podium finish in third place in the fifth World Cup race in Kindberg and she reached sixth place in the overall single-seater World Cup , tied with Italian Renate Gietl . At the World Cup in 2003 in Železniki , she was ninth.

In the 2003/2004 and 2004/2005 seasons Wagner achieved a top 10 result in almost every race, with her best result being fifth in the last race of the season. In both years she was seventh in the overall World Cup. At the 2004 European Championships in Hüttau , she just missed a medal in single-seater as fourth , but she was only tenth at the 2005 World Championships in Latsch . In the 2005/2006 World Cup season, Wagner was third again on the podium in Grande Prairie and, with a further three fifth places, achieved fifth place in the overall World Cup, for the second time after the 2000/2001 season. In addition, she was Austrian state champion in single-seater for the second time. At the 2006 European Championships in Umhausen , she finished eighth.

While Wagner was without a podium in the 2006/2007 World Cup season, achieved fifth place in Umhausen in January as the best result and thus fell back to eighth place in the overall standings, she achieved a podium again in the 2007/2008 season with third place in Umhausen , with which she reached the sixth place overall. In February 2007 Wagner won the bronze medal in the team competition at the World Championships in Grande Prairie in Team Austria II together with Gerald Kammerlander , Reinhard Beer and Herbert Kögl , and she also achieved fifth place in the single-seater.
