The 2011/12 Natural Track Luge World Cup was held from January 6th to March 3rd, 2012 in three disciplines and six races each season. In addition, on the second race weekend, a team competition was held for the first time as part of the World Cup, which previously only existed at World and European Championships. The season opener in Latzfons should have taken place from December 16 to 18, 2011, but had to be postponed due to warm weather. In the first and last race of the season, a new mode was used on a test basis, in which only the best 25 men, 15 women and 10 pairs of doubles in a qualifying run were allowed to compete in the World Cup race (including the 5 men, 3rd placed based on the results of the last three World Cup races) Women and 3 doubles), while the unqualified drove a race called the Nations Cup , which was not part of the World Cup. From February 17th to 19th the 24th European Championship took place in Novouralsk and the 8th Junior World Championship two weeks earlier in Laces .
