Katrin Mladek (born January 25, 1989 in Zwettl ) is an Austrian natural track tobogganist . She belongs to the winter sports club in her home town of Reichenau am Freiwald , has been a member of the Austrian natural track toboggan team since 2004 and has been competing in the World Cup since the 2006/2007 season .

Career

Mladek began tobogganing on natural track in 1995. She soon achieved successes at the FIL Youth Games and was twice Austrian school champion in 1998 and 1999. Shortly before her 15th birthday, she took part in a junior world championship for the first time in Kindberg and came in seventh. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen , however, she only reached 14th place two years later at the 2006 Junior World Championship .

Mladek has been competing in the World Cup since the 2006/2007 season . At the end of this winter, she achieved her first top 10 place in Moos in Passeier and achieved twelfth place in the overall standings. At the Junior European Championships 2007 in St. Sebastian she was sixth. The 2007/2008 World Cup season was Mladek's most successful so far. With a ninth and a tenth place in Železniki at the end of the season as well as two eleventh and two twelfth places, she reached ninth place in the overall single-seater World Cup. At the Junior World Championships in Laces in 2008 , she achieved fourth place, but remained more than four seconds behind the medal ranks. A little later it was used for the first time in a title fight in the general class at the European Championships in Olang . She finished eleventh, just under eleven seconds behind.

In the 2008/2009 World Cup season , Mladek's best result was a ninth place in the first race in St. Sebastian. In the last two competitions in Novouralsk she was not at the start and she fell back to 13th place in the overall standings. At the 2009 World Championships in Passeier , she was twelfth. At the European Championship in 2010 in St. Sebastian could not attend because they in practice sessions at the team internal qualification against Christina Götschl failed. In the 2009/2010 World Cup season , Mladek's best result was a ninth place at the final in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , and in the overall standings she was thirteenth as in the previous year. In the 2010/2011 season , in which, as in the previous year, she did not take part in the two opening races in Novouralsk, Russia, she was twice among the top ten, making her twelfth in the overall World Cup. At the 2011 World Championships in Umhausen , she finished 13th.

In the 2011/2012 season , Mladek took part in three of the six World Cup races. With an eighth place in Nowouralsk, she achieved her best World Cup result so far and was 14th in the overall World Cup. At the 2012 European Championships in Novouralsk, she finished ninth.
