Michaela Niemetz (born October 11, 1993 in Starnberg ) is a German natural track tobogganist . She started in the 2007/2008 season in the Intercontinental Cup as well as in the Junior World and European Championships and took part in a World Cup race for the first time in 2010 and in a European Championship for the first time in 2012 .

Career

Niemetz took part in races in the Intercontinental Cup from winter 2007/2008, but mostly only achieved placements in the bottom field. Her best overall result was 14th place in her first season 2007/2008, in which she took part in four of the five IC Cup races, while in the next two years she only started in one or two races. At international junior championships, in which she participated from 2008, she initially only achieved results in the bottom field. At the Junior World Championship 2008 in Latsch she was 16th and last and at the Junior European Championship 2009 in Longiarü and the Junior World Championship 2010 in Deutschnofen with the places 16 and 14 each penultimate. At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Latsch, however, she came 10th out of 19 rated female tobogganists. Niemetz had her first start in the World Cup on February 7, 2010 in Latzfons . She finished 16th and penultimate place. In the 2010/2011 season she did not take part in any international competitions, but only started in national competitions. In January 2011 she became German Junior Champion in her age group (Juniors II).

In the 2011/2012 season , Niemetz took part in several World Cup races for the first time, with 13th place in Nowouralsk being her best result. In the overall World Cup she finished 17th. Two weeks after her tenth place at the Junior World Championships, she also took part in the 2012 European Championships in Nowouralsk, where she finished 14th out of 16 rated luge women and after the failure of Veronika Nachmann the only German was in the ranking.
