Career

Veronika Nachmann took part in international junior championships from 2003, but initially only achieved placements in the final third. In January 2005 she took part in the World Championships in Latsch , her first title fight in the general class. She achieved 16th place and at least left three tobogganers behind. Nachmann has also competed in the World Cup since the 2005/2006 season . She made her debut on January 15, 2006 in Kindberg , where she reached 13th place. In the further course of the season she was used twice in the World Cup (she did not contest the races in Canada), achieved her best result for the time being with twelfth place in the final in Oberperfuss , which was also the last place and thus also came twelfth in the overall World Cup. In the next season she finished only around 15th place and was also 15th in the overall World Cup. In the 2007/2008 season , she achieved a twelfth and four 13th places and a 14th place. However, she crossed the finish line two times only last and three times as penultimate. In the overall World Cup she finished 13th and was the best German for the first time, which she remained in the following seasons. Michaela Maurer , who has been the best German in the overall World Cup for the last eight years, continued to achieve better results in the World Cup races, but did not start in all the races and therefore fell behind in the overall World Cup. After Nachmann had not participated in the World and European Championships in the last two years, she started again at the European Championships in Olang in 2008 . As penultimate she finished 14th. A week earlier she had reached eighth place at the Junior World Championships in Latsch.

In the 2008/2009 season , Nachmann achieved twelfth place in the overall World Cup with two eleventh, one twelfth and two 13th places. At the 2009 World Championships in Moos in Passeier , she was 14th. At the beginning of the 2009/2010 season , she achieved her first top 10 placements in the World Cup when she was ninth at the opening races in Nowouralsk . With another top 10 result, tenth place in Latsch, she reached ninth place in the overall World Cup. At the European Championship in 2010 in St. Sebastian it but did not participate. At the beginning of the 2010/2011 season , Nachmann crossed the finish line twice in Novouralsk as eighth - and last - but achieved her best World Cup results to date. In the remainder of the winter she was once again among the top ten, which, as in the previous year, finished ninth in the overall World Cup. At the 2011 World Cup in Umhausen , she finished 14th.

After further top 10 results (two ninth places in Železniki and Nowouralsk) Nachmann achieved her best World Cup result so far in the finals of the 2011/2012 season in Umhausen with fifth place. In the overall World Cup, she improved to eighth place, making her the best German for the fifth time in a row. This winter, Veronika Nachmann also took part in a two-seater World Cup race for the first time. She started in Nowouralsk with Marcus Grausam and finished eleventh and penultimate place. With Grausam she also won the German championship in doubles. At the 2012 European Championships in Nowouralsk, she and her teammates Marcus Grausam, Björn Kierspel and Christian Wichan achieved seventh place in the team competition, while in the single-seater in the third run, which she had to drive twice after a timekeeping defect, she crashed and was eliminated.
