Andrij Tolopko ( Ukrainian Андрій Толопко ; born January 27, 1991 in Lemberg ) is a Ukrainian natural track tobogganist . He has been competing in the World Cup as well as World and European Championships since the 2009/2010 season .

Career

Andrij Tolopko contested his first international races in the 2009/2010 season. He took part in the first three World Cup races of the winter, was 31st twice and 33rd once and was 43rd in the overall World Cup for the 2009/2010 season , tied with his compatriot Ihor Senjuk and the Romanian Cosmin Codin . He then took part in the 2010 European Championships in St. Sebastian . There he did not start in a single-seater like in the World Cup, but together with Marjan Husner in a double-seater. However, the couple was disqualified. Andrij Tolopko and Marjan Husner also took part in the team competition together with Julija Melnyk and finished ninth out of ten teams.

At the beginning of the 2010/2011 season in Novouralsk Tolopko achieved his best World Cup results so far with places 23 and 22, but he only crossed the finish line last in the relatively small field. After not taking part in the next two World Cup races, at the end of the season he left up to five tobogganists behind with two 28th places in Unterammergau and Olang . In the overall World Cup he improved to 26th place. At the 2011 World Cup in Umhausen , Tolopko retired in the second round. At the European Junior Championships 2011 in Laas , which took place a week later , he was 25th among 29 evaluated tobogganists.

In the 2011/2012 season , Tolopko's best single-seater World Cup result was 25th in Novouralsk. He was 33rd in the overall World Cup. For the first time this winter, he also took part in World Cup races in the doubles together with Marjan Husner . With placements just behind the top 10, the duo mostly only crossed the finish line at the end of the field. They finished eleventh in the overall World Cup. At the 2012 European Championships in Novouralsk, Tolopko retired in the single-seater in the third race. With Husner he finished tenth and last place in the doubles and in the team competition together with the two Turkish single-seaters Asuman Bayrak and İsa Güzeloğlu the ninth and also last place.
