Natural Track Luge Junior European Championship 2011

The 31st FIL - Natural Track Luge Junior European Championship took place from February 3rd to 6th 2011 in Laas in South Tyrol ( Italy ). After the training runs and the opening ceremony on Friday, the decisions in the doubles and singles competitions were made on Saturday and Sunday. The executing association was the ASC Laas.

In the men's singles competition, all three medals went to the host country Italy. Alex Gruber won the gold medal after he had already won the silver medal at the Junior World Championships last year . Second was Lukas Brunner, who set the fastest time in the second and third races, but was already too far behind Gruber from the first run. The bronze medal went to Tobias Mair. 29 of 30 registered tobogganers started and crossed the finish line.

Italy achieved a five-fold victory in the women's singles. Evelin Lanthaler won her third gold medal at international junior championships in a row with the fastest time in all three rounds. Second place went to Sarah Gruber, who won her first medal, and third place went to Alexandra Obrist, who was third at the last Junior European Championship and was second at the Junior World Championship last year . 15 of 16 registered tobogganers started and crossed the finish line.

With the fastest time in the second race, the Russians Maxim Zwetkow and Denis Moissejew won the gold medal in the two-seater ahead of the Austrians Christoph Regensburger and Dominik Holzknecht, who led after the first run.
