Alexandru Vîlcan (* 1992 ) is a Romanian natural track tobogganist . He has been competing in the World Cup as well as World and European Championships since the 2009/2010 season .

Career

In his World Cup debut on January 10, 2010 in Umhausen , Vîlcan came second to last in 41st place. He then took part in the 2010 European Championships in St. Sebastian , where he was the last of the 37 rated participants to cross the finish line, two and a half minutes behind. At the next World Cup races in Latsch and Latzfons , he finished 35th and 36th, leaving up to five tobogganers behind, including the entire British team. In between was the Junior World Championship 2010 in Deutschnofen , where he finished 27th out of 31 starters. At the World Cup finals in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , Alexandru Vîlcan came back to the finish line second to last and finished 29th, with which he won a total of 24 World Cup points in the 2009/2010 season and was 48th overall. In February 2010 he also took part in two races in the Intercontinental Cup, but also only achieved placements in the bottom field. At the first Romanian Championships in March 2010 he won the junior class and was second in the overall standings behind Marian Negotei .

In the 2010/2011 season , Vîlcan took part in a total of three World Cup races. In addition to a failure in Kindberg , he crossed the finish line twice in Gsies and Unterammergau , finishing 27th and 31st, placing him 43rd in the overall World Cup among 52 tobogganists who won World Cup points this winter. At the 2011 World Championships in Umhausen , he finished 37th and finished fourth from last. He achieved 23rd place out of 29 rated tobogganists at the 2011 European Junior Championships in Lasa . Here he started together with Bogdan Moroșan for the first time in a two-seater. The duo took sixth and penultimate place. At the Romanian Championships in 2011 , he took third place in the singles and second place in the team competition among seniors and juniors. In addition, he was in the junior team with Dragoș Dobrean second in the doubles. In the 2011/2012 season, Vîlcan did not take part in any international competitions.
