Ilya Tarasov has been taking part in international competitions since winter 2009/2010. In the World Cup he made his debut on December 20, 2009 in Novouralsk , where he achieved 24th place in the single-seater. Another World Cup start in the single-seater followed on February 7, 2010 in Latzfons . There he finished in 26th place again in the lower midfield. In the overall World Cup of the 2009/2010 season he came 41st. Together with Stanislaw Kowschik, he also took part in a World Cup race in a two-seater. In Laces they achieved tenth place and thus 16th place in the overall double-seater World Cup, tied with Bulgarians Tschawdar Arsow and Petar Sawow . At the 2010 European Championships in St. Sebastian Tarassow was 30th in the single-seater. Two weeks later he achieved 18th place in the single seater at the 2010 Junior World Championships in Deutschnofen and, together with Stanislaw Kowschik, fifth place in the double seater.
The duo Kowschik / Tarassow has regularly competed in the World Cup since the 2010/2011 season . This winter they took part in five of the six World Cup races and achieved fifth place at the finals in Olang as their best result , which brought them sixth place in the overall World Cup. In the single-seater Tarassow only took part in the World Cup race in Gsies , where he finished 22nd. At the 2011 World Championships in Umhausen , Kowschik / Tarassow achieved ninth place in the doubles and together with Lyudmila Aksenenko as Team Russia II, seventh place in the team competition. A week later Stanislaw Kowschik and Ilja Tarassow won the bronze medal at the European Junior Championships 2011 in Lasa . At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Latsch Ilya Tarassow won the silver medal in the doubles together with Pawel Silin . He did not take part in World Cup races or the European Championship in the 2011/2012 season.
