Julija Melnyk took part in three World Cup races for the first time at the age of 15 in the 2006/2007 season. She crossed the finish line as 18th and 20th, twice, only as the last, and dropped out once, which is why she only finished 21st and last in the overall World Cup. She also started at the 2007 European Junior Championships in St. Sebastian , but failed in the first round. After a two-year break, Julija Melnyk only took part in international competitions again in the 2009/2010 season . She competed in three World Cup races again, dropped out once and finished 19th in Umhausen and 17th in Latsch , leaving two starters behind. In the overall World Cup, she achieved 21st place out of a total of 25 female tobogganists who won World Cup points this winter. As the only woman in her country, Melnyk also took part in the 2010 European Championships in St. Sebastian. There she came in the single-seater with a gap of 46.71 seconds in third from bottom in 15th place and thus achieved the best placement of a Ukrainian natural track luge at European championships so far. She started together with Marjan Husner and Andrij Tolopko in the team competition, where the Ukrainian team finished ninth and penultimate place. At the Junior World Championships 2010 in Nova Ponente she was 13th out of 16 women tobogganing started. In the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons Melnyk did not play any international competitions.
