The Kasilof River is a river on the west side of the Kenai Peninsula in southern Alaska . Its source is Tustumena Lake , from which it flows north to Cook Inlet . On the upper course of the river, the Kasilof has a high flow speed, which, in connection with various obstacles, leads to a classification of level 2 on the white water difficulty scale. Its water, clouded by silt, is very cold. The lower reaches, where it meets the Sterling Highway , is a popular area for salmon fishing.
