The Tustumena Lake is located on the western side of the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska , near the village of Kasilof .
The lake is about 40 km long and 10 km wide. It is mainly fed by the meltwater from the Tustumena Glacier . The Tustumena Lake in turn forms the origin of the Kasilof River . The area around the lake is considered to be an excellent hunting ground and is the venue for the Tustumena sled dog race . The lake is also known for its glacier winds.
