Career

Resch took part in international junior championships from 2000. He won his first medal with second place behind Florian Breitenberger at the 2001 European Junior Championships in his home town of Tiers . A year later he won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championship in Gsies in 2002 . Before that, he took part in a title fight in the general class for the first time at the European Championships in Frantschach-Sankt Gertraud in 2002 , but only came in 18th.

From the 2002/2003 season , Resch competed in the Intercontinental Cup, in which he had already achieved several podium places and victories, as well as the World Cup . On his debut on December 22, 2002, he achieved seventh place, but did not make it into the top ten at his two other World Cup starts this winter. At the European Junior Championships 2003 in Kreuth he came in 26th due to a botched third run. At the 2003 World Championships in Železniki , however, he finished eighth.

In the 2003/2004 season , Resch again contested three World Cup races and achieved sixth place at the finals in Aurach as the best result . At the 2004 European Championships in Hüttau he only came 17th. The next winter Resch was only present at the World Cup opener in Campill and then started for a long time exclusively in the Intercontinental Cup, where he achieved several podium finishes. Resch was also not at the start at major events from 2005 to 2007, only in 2008 he was able to qualify again for the European Championship in Olang , where he reached fifth place. Then he was used again in the World Cup. At the beginning of the 2007/2008 season he had contested his only World Cup race in a doubles with Philipp Antholzer , which they finished in eighth place.

Since the 2008/2009 season , Resch has been an integral part of the Italian World Cup team. With a total of four top 10 results, including fourth place at the season finale in Nowouralsk , he achieved ninth place in the overall World Cup this winter. He was also ninth at the 2009 World Championships in Moos in Passeier . In the 2009/2010 season , Resch achieved his first podium places in the World Cup with two second places in Latsch and Latzfons . In the overall ranking he reached sixth place. At the 2010 European Championships in St. Sebastian , however, he only came in twelfth.

After three top 10 results at the beginning of the 2010/2011 World Cup season , Resch celebrated his first World Cup victory in the fourth race on January 23, 2011 in Kindberg, Austria . A week later he finished fifth at the 2011 World Championships in Umhausen . Resch finished the World Cup season with a third place in the finals in Olang , with which he reached fourth place in the overall ranking. Resch achieved similar results in the 2011/2012 season : He made it onto the podium twice in the World Cup (third places in Latzfons and Železniki) and was fifth in the overall World Cup. At the 2012 European Championships in Novouralsk , he finished eighth in the single-seater.
