Oksana Jelessina ( Russian Оксана Елесина ; born November 30, 1986 in Kandalakscha ) is a former Russian natural track tobogganist . It started in the World Cup from 2003 to 2009 , achieved four top 10 placings in World Cup races and in the 2006/2007 season it was tenth in the overall World Cup. At World and European Championships , her best result was a twelfth place in 2008.

Career

Oksana Jelessina took part in international junior championships from 2002 to 2006 and in world and European championships in the general class from 2003 to 2008. In the junior class she achieved her best results with sixth place at the Junior European Championship 2005 in her hometown Kandalakscha and fourth place at the Junior World Championship 2006 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . She was 1.21 seconds short of the medal ranks.

In the general class at the 2003 World Championships in Železniki , Jelessina achieved 15th place among 20 women toboggan. The next year she finished 18th out of 26 tobogganists at the 2004 European Championships in Hüttau . She was also 18th at the 2005 World Championships in Latsch . This time, however, this placement meant only the penultimate place, because a serious mistake in the first of the three races cost her around 55 seconds, which is why she was finally around one minute and ten seconds behind the winner Ekaterina Lavrentieva . Only the Brazilian Michelle Mercer , who continuously lost a lot of time in every round, was even slower. She also made a serious mistake at the 2006 European Championships in Umhausen , this time in the second race, which finally brought her 21st and last place. After not taking part in the 2007 World Championships in the Canadian Grande Prairie , she came twelfth among 15 women tobogganing at the 2008 European Championships in Olang .

In the World Cup , Oksana Jelessina only took part in the two races in Moscow in the 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 seasons. With 13th and 10th place she was penultimate. In the 2004/2005 season she already took part in four of the six World Cup races. In addition to one retirement, she achieved thirteenth place three times, leaving three to four female tobogganers behind. After Jelessina did not take part in any World Cup races in winter 2005/2006, the 2006/2007 season became her most successful. She started in five of the six World Cup races, was three times among the top ten and achieved her best World Cup results with ninth places in Longiarü and at the finals in Moos in Passeier . In the overall World Cup, she achieved tenth place. After Jelessina had not contested any World Cup races again the next winter, she started again in the first World Cup race in St. Sebastian at the beginning of the 2008/2009 season , which she finished penultimate in 13th place. After that she did not take part in any international competitions.
