Career

After Živa Janc had already participated in the 2001 European Junior Championship in Tiers and had contested several races in the Intercontinental Cup, she started a World Cup race for the first time at the end of the 2001/2002 season and came in 14th in the Slovenian town of Železniki . During the next two years, Janc continued to compete in Intercontinental Cup and came to no further World Cup appearances, but took part in the World and European Championships. When she first competed at the 2003 World Championships in Železniki, she placed right in front of her teammate Mateja Kralj in 13th place and achieved her best result in championships in the general class. The next year she finished 17th at the 2004 European Championships in Hüttau and achieved her best result in the junior class with tenth place at the 2004 Junior World Championships in Kindberg .

In the 2004/05 season Živa Janc started - as the only Slovenian - again in the World Cup. She took part in five of the six races, came under the fastest 15 four times and achieved a twelfth place on January 16 in Oberperfuss as the best result , which made her 13th in the overall World Cup - just one point behind the two eleventh-placed Julija Wetlowa and Christa Gietl . At the 2005 World Championships in Laces she was 15th in the single-seater and together with Borut Kralj , Mario Gortnar and Jure Potočnik, she finished ninth and penultimate place in the team competition. At the beginning of the 2005/2006 season , Živa Janc took part in two more World Cup races and again she achieved a twelfth place as the best result, this time in Kindberg . Then Janc took part in the European Championship 2006 in Umhausen , where she finished 16th. She made her last international appearance at the Junior World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in February 2006, but only crossed the finish line as third from bottom. After that, Živa Janc ended her career at the age of 19.
