Sandra Lanthaler (born February 1, 1984 ) is a former Italian natural track tobogganist . It was 2002 European champion and 2002 and 2004 Junior World Champion. Her younger sister Evelin is also a natural toboggan runner.

Career

After Lanthaler had already gained international experience at junior European championships, she competed for the first time in a title fight in the general class at the 2001 World Championships in Stein an der Enns . With fourth place he just missed the podium. She celebrated the greatest success of her career at the beginning of February 2002 at the European Championships in Frantschach-Sankt Gertraud , when she surprisingly became European champion with just under eight hundredths of a second ahead of Russian Ekaterina Lavrentjewa . Three weeks later she also won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Casies .

After she had not participated in either the World Championship or the Junior European Championship in the winter of 2003, she was able to successfully defend her Junior World Championship in February 2004. Lanthaler won the Junior World Championships in Kindberg with just a hundredth of a second ahead of her teammate Barbara Abart . A week later, she only achieved ninth place at the 2004 European Championships in Hüttau . On January 17th, 2004 Lanthaler had contested her only World Cup race in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , which she finished in a good third place. After 2004 she did not take part in any international competitions.
