history

Seis is first documented as "Siusis" in a traditional note from the Bishop's Church of Säben-Brixen from the years 982–988, with which Bishop Albuin of Brixen and Bishop Eticho of Augsburg exchanged church income in Völs, Seis and Castelrotto for those in Siffian am Ritten .

Surroundings

The area around the village of Seis is particularly suitable for hiking and offers picturesque views of the Eisack Valley and the surrounding area. Above Seis, at the foot of the Schlern , is the Hauenstein castle ruin ( 1191  m ), which was owned by the South Tyrolean knight and writer Oswald von Wolkenstein in the late Middle Ages . The Salegg ruins ( 1219  m ) are also very close by . To the north of the village is the St. Valentine's Church , to the west of the village of St. Konstantin bei Völs , both built in the Romanesque - Gothic style. The village of Bad Ratzes is not far from Seis am Schlern .
