Christian Schwarz (born April 25, 1988 in Schlanders ) is a former Italian natural track luge . In 2008 he became the junior world champion in the single seater.

Career

After Schwarz was already active in the Intercontinental Cup, he started in an international championship for the first time in 2005. In Kandalaksha he reached fourth place at the 2005 European Junior Championships . The next winter he was used for the first time in the general class and achieved eighth place at the 2006 European Championships in Umhausen . Three weeks later, behind his compatriot Patrick Pigneter, he won the silver medal at the 2006 Junior World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen .

Schwarz contested his first and only World Cup race in a single seater at the start of the 2006/2007 season in his home town of Latsch , where he finished fourth. In the rest of the winter he was used again in the Intercontinental Cup, where he celebrated his first victory on February 4th in Laas . At the Junior European Championships 2007 in St. Sebastian , he only finished seventh.

In the winter of 2007/2008, Schwarz achieved fourth place overall in the Intercontinental Cup with a victory in Latzfons and thus his best overall result. He celebrated the greatest success of his career in February 2008 at the Junior World Championship in Latsch , when he was eight hundredths of a second ahead of his compatriot Hannes Clara and became Junior World Champion. A week later, he finished eleventh at the 2008 European Championship in Olang . That winter he also took part in a world cup race in a two-seater in Umhausen with Philipp Antholzer . However, they were not included in the ranking. In 2008, Schwarz announced his retirement from active tobogganing. He then took over the care of the young tobogganers at ASV Latsch.
