Career

Batkowski began tobogganing on natural track in 1992. In 2000 he was able to qualify for the Austrian junior national team and take part in the European junior championship in Umhausen , where he finished 16th in the single-seater. At the European Junior Championships 2001 in Tiers he reached fifth place as well as at the 2002 Junior World Championships in Casies . At the Junior European Championships 2003 in Kreuth , however, he only finished 28th after a botched second race, at the Junior World Championships 2004 he finished sixth again. From 2002 to 2004 he was Austrian Junior Champion three times in a row and in the Intercontinental Cup he reached second place overall in 2003 and 2004. In June 2004 he completed his school education at the HTL in Fulpmes .

In the 2004/2005 season Batkowski competed in his first three World Cup races and achieved a sixth place in Latzfons as the best result , making him 17th in the overall single-seater World Cup. In the same winter he also took part in a world championship for the first time in Latsch and finished ninth in the singles and sixth in the team competition with Team Austria II. In winter 2005/2006 he was among the top ten in all six world cup races and achieved in Grande Prairie with places four and five his best results so far in World Cup races, with which he also achieved his best result in eighth place in the single-seater overall World Cup. He finished tenth in the single seater at the 2006 European Championship in Umhausen .

In the next two World Cup seasons ( 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 ) Batkowski was able to classify himself for tenth place in most of the races and was once twelfth and once tenth in the overall World Cup. In the 2008/2009 season he failed several times to qualify for the World Cup races within the Austrian team, which is why he only took part in two competitions and fell back to 30th place in the overall World Cup. Also in the 2009/2010 season he only contested two World Cup races and came in 26th overall. At the 2007 and 2009 World Championships he was 15th in the single-seater. He achieved slightly better results at the European Championships with a ninth place in 2008 and an eleventh place in 2010 .

In the 2010/2011 season , Florian Batkowski took part in all World Cup races with the exception of the two opening races in Nowouralsk . He drove twice under the top ten and finished 15th in the overall World Cup. At the 2011 World Cup in Umhausen, he finished ninth in the single-seater. In the following winter of 2011/2012 Batkowski remained without World Cup points. He could not qualify for the World Cup at the opening race in Latzfons and at the final in Umhausen and had to compete in the Nations Cup, which was held for the first time in these two races. He did not take part in the four World Cup races in between and at the 2012 European Championship .
