Max Friberg (born November 20, 1992 in Skövde ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been with Frölunda HC in the Svenska Hockeyligan since May 2017 .

Career

Max Friberg began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Skövde IK , for whose senior team he was active in the third class Division 1 from 2008 to 2011 . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2011 in the fifth round as a total of 143 players by the Anaheim Ducks . First, however, the winger remained in his native Sweden and moved to the 2011/12 season for Timrå IK for the first team he in the Elitserien , stand, the highest Swedish league on the ice.

In June 2012 Friberg received from the Anaheim Ducks an NHL entry contract over three years and was loaned to the Timrå IK for the following season. After the end of the season in Sweden, he finally moved to North America to the Ducks. There, however, he came in the following two and a half years almost exclusively for the farm team Norfolk Admirals and San Diego Gulls in the American Hockey League and played only six games in the top division of North America. In January 2016, the Swede was transferred to the Canadiens de Montréal in exchange for Dustin Tokarski within the NHL , where he will also initially be used in the AHL at St. John's IceCaps .

After a total of four years in North America and only six NHL appearances, Friberg returned to his Swedish homeland for the 2017/18 season and joined Frölunda HC .

International

For Sweden , Friberg took part in the 2010 U18 World Junior Championships and the 2011 and 2012 U20 World Junior Championships . At the U18 World Cup in 2010, he and his team won the silver medal and the gold medal at the U20 World Cup in 2012.
