Jonathan Sigalet (born February 12, 1986 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Frölunda HC in the Svenska Hockeyligan since April 2016 . His brother Jordan was also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Jonathan Sigalet began his career as a hockey player with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, for which he was active in the Canadian junior league British Columbia Hockey League in the 2002/03 season . During this season he was named the best defender in the league and voted into their all-rookie team and their first all-star team. He then attended Bowling Green State University for two years , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He was then selected in the fourth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft as the 100th player of the Boston Bruins . For their farm team Providence Bruins , the left-shooter played in the American Hockey League from 2005 to 2008 . He also made his debut for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League in the 2006/07 season . In his only NHL use, he remained pointless and received four penalty minutes.
On May 27, 2008 Sigalet was transferred to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Matt Marquardt . He then played for two years for their AHL farm team Syracuse Crunch and in the 2010/11 season for Columbus' new farm team Springfield Falcons . For the 2011/12 season he was committed by HC Lev Poprad from the Continental Hockey League . The following season he moved within the league to HC Slovan Bratislava .
From December 2014 Sigalet was under contract with Luleå HF in the Svenska Hockeyligan before he moved to Frölunda HC in April 2016 .
International
For Canada , Sigalet took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2004 . During the tournament he prepared two goals in seven games.
