Jared Nelson Cowen (born January 25, 1991 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . The defender denied in his relatively short professional career 2011-2016 a total of 266 games for the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League , which it in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft were selected in ninth position.
Career
Jared Cowen played in the 2006/07 season for the Saskatoon Contacts of the Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League . In the same season he also went on the ice for the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League , who had selected him in the first round in the WHL Bantam Draft 2006 in first place. In his second season, he won the WHL championship, the Ed Chynoweth Cup , and the Memorial Cup in 2008 with the Spokane Chiefs . In the NHL Entry Draft 2009 he was also in the first round, but in ninth position, selected by the Ottawa Senators from the National Hockey League . In February 2010, Cowen signed a three-year contract with the Ottawa Senators. He made his NHL debut on April 8, 2010 in his Senators game at the Tampa Bay Lightning .
In February 2016, Cowen was transferred to the Toronto Maple Leafs within the league as part of a larger swap deal that involved a total of nine players . This gave little later announced that the defender for organizing the Leafs would attend no more play and it would turn out to buy from the contract with him in the summer (buy-out) . Subsequently, Cowen ended his active career.
International
For Canada Cowen took part in the U20 Junior World Championship 2010 and U20 Junior World Championship 2011 , in which he and his team finished second and won the silver medal.
