Mitch Wahl (born January 22, 1990 in Seal Beach , California ) is an American - German ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) since November 2019 .
Career
After Mitch Wahl spent a season with the youth organization of the Los Angeles Kings , the Los Angeles Junior Kings , he started his junior career in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Spokane Chiefs . While in the Chiefs, he was selected in 2008 by the Calgary Flames in 48th place in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft . In the same year he won the Double in Ed Chynoweth Cup and Memorial Cup . He contributed six scorer points to winning the Memorial Cup.
After 317 WHL games, Mitch Wahl made his way into the American Hockey League (AHL) to the Abbotsford Heat . Between 2010 and 2013, the center also spent time in the ECHL with the Utah Grizzlies , for whom he also served as assistant captain, and with the two AHL clubs Adirondack Phantoms and the Hamilton Bulldogs , to which he was loaned. In the 2013-14 season Wahl spent five games at EC Red Bull Salzburg before returning to the United States and joining the Idaho Steelheads . He also completed two games for the Utica Comets . The 2014/15 season played Wahl in the ECHL at the Florida Everblades . After only one season he moved to Sweden to IK Oskarshamn .
After a successful season in the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan , the striker moved to Finland , where he only played 16 games in the Liiga for Tampereen Ilves before moving back to Sweden. First to Västerviks IK , at the end of the season back to IK Oskarshamn .
After two years in Scandinavia , he moved back to Austria in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (EBEL), where he played for HC Innsbruck , where he received the most penalties of all players in the main round, in the 2017/18 season and in the following season for the EC KAC , with which he won the championship in 2019. For the 2019/20 season Wahl went to Slovakia for HC 05 Banská Bystrica , but terminated his contract after ten games for personal reasons. In November 2019, the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven signed him up and awarded him directly to the ice pirates Crimmitschau from the DEL2 .
