Cory Quirk (born July 3, 1986 in Brockton , Massachusetts ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Fischtown Pinguins in the DEL since the 2016/17 season .

Career

Cory Quirk began his career as a hockey player with the Waterloo Black Hawks, for which he was active in the junior league United States Hockey League in the 2004/05 season . The attacker then played for the University of Massachusetts Amherst team for four years . During this period he was elected to the All-Academic Team of the University League Hockey East in 2006 and 2009 .

After he had made his professional ice hockey debut for the Albany River Rats in the American Hockey League towards the end of the 2008/09 season , the left-shooter signed for the 2009/10 season with their league rivals Worcester Sharks . In July 2011, the striker was signed by the German second division Starbulls Rosenheim . He scored 60 points scorer in 47 games in the regular season. In the 18 play-off games, the center forward could score another 24 points. This made Cory Quirk one of the best strikers in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2011/12 season and made a significant contribution to the success of the Starbulls this season. For the 2012/2013 season he moved to JYP Jyväskylä in the Finnish SM-liiga . Due to the NHL lockout , players from the National Hockey League were signed and therefore the left-shooter was partly used in the farm team JYP-Akatemia . In January 2013 he terminated his contract with Jyväskylä and returned to Germany. There he signed a contract with the Hannover Scorpions from the German Ice Hockey League until the end of the 2012/13 season . In his third game for Lower Saxony on January 27, 2013 against Adler Mannheim , the striker scored his first DEL goal.

For the 2013/14 season Quirk moved to the first Danish league for SønderjyskE Ishockey . With the club he became Danish champions in 2014 and 2015 and also played in the Champions Hockey League. In the Danish league he booked 163 appearances for SønderjyskE Ishockey and came up with 106 goals and 128 assists.

In April 2016, the Fischtown Pinguins Quirks announced.
