Michael Kenneth "Mike" Moore (* 12. December 1984 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who, since July 2016 the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven in the German Ice Hockey League is (DEL) under contract and there on the position of the defender plays . He has been the team captain since moving to Bremerhaven .
Career
Moore began his ice hockey career in the 2003/04 season when the Surrey Eagles took him from the second-rate Canadian junior league British Columbia Hockey League under contract. In his first season, the trained defender posted 27 points scorer in 56 games this season, which he played for his team, but also collected 148 penalty minutes. For the following season, Moore decided to leave his home country Canada and begin studying at the renowned Princeton University . He also played for the ice hockey team of the University in the ECAC Hockey - Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . After a good rookie season in which he scored ten points in only 25 games, a weaker year followed when the defender only scored four points in 30 games. In the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons, Moore's performance on the offensive increased again. After the Canadian had set a new personal best in the ECAC with 14 points in the 2006/07 game year, he improved again in his final year. Moore reached 24 scorer points, was elected to both the ECAC First All-Star Team and the NCAA East First All-American Team due to his achievements and - with one goal and one assist in the 4-1 final victory over Harvard University - played a significant role winning the ECAC championship title at Princeton University for the first time since 1998.
After college season, the undrafted free agent was signed on April 8, 2008 by the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League . They used him in the rest of the current season in three games in the American Hockey League with their farm team , the Worcester Sharks . The defender remained pointless in these encounters and received 16 penalty minutes. Before the start of the 2008/09 season , the Canadian first took part in the San Jose Sharks training camp. Due to the great competition, however, he received no place in the NHL squad and was ordered back to Worcester in the AHL. There Moore formed a defensively solid playing defender duo with his former teammate from Princeton, Brett Westgarth . His achievements eventually led to his being appointed to the NHL San Joses squad for the first time on January 27, 2009.
In July 2012, Moore signed a one-year two-way contract with the Nashville Predators . In July 2013 he was awarded a one-year contract by the Boston Bruins . In July 2014 he signed another one-year contract, this time with the Washington Capitals , which was however extended the following year. In July 2016 he signed with the Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven, who had just stepped up from the DEL2 . There he took over the captaincy of Marian Dejdar .
