Ross W. Mauermann (born October 19, 1990 in Janesville , Wisconsin ) is an American - German ice hockey player . The attacking player has been part of the Fischtown Pinguins squad from the German Ice Hockey League since September 2016 .
Player career
Mauermann played ice hockey, American football and baseball at Janesville Parker High School in his home in the US state of Wisconsin . He eventually focused on ice hockey and joined the Janesville Jets in the North American Hockey League between 2009 and 2011 . In the 2010/11 season he attracted attention with 29 goals and 34 assists in 61 games and enrolled at Providence College in the US state of Rhode Island for the 2011/12 season . Already in his debut season with the "Friars" he was a top performer and was appointed to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. He also ended his first year as the best on points of his team - no newcomer had done that since the 2008/09 season. In the summer of 2014 Wall man at "took Rookie Camp" of the NHL - club New Jersey Devils in part, before he in his senior year at Providence College as one of the team captains acted and the "Friars" for winning the NCAA led championship. He left the university, where he majored in marketing, with two best marks: No ice hockey player in the history of the "Friars" before him had played more games for the team than he - namely 156. Also the fact that he during his College career did not miss a single game and thus played 156 games in a row, was a record.
With the graduation from Providence College, Mauermann ended his career as an amateur and began his professional career. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he initially received a trial contract from the Springfield Falcons from the American Hockey League (AHL), and in December 2015 he was signed by the Falcons. After a year in the AHL, Mauermann went overseas, he signed a contract with the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) in September 2016 .
