Alexander "Alex" Friesen (born January 30, 1991 in St. Catharines , Ontario ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) since the 2018/19 season .

Career

Friesen began his career at Niagara Falls Thunder , where he played for one season. For the 2007/08 season he moved to the Niagara IceDogs and completed 353 games for the club in the Ontario Hockey League . In his last season, 2011/12 , he was assistant captain of the team.

In 2012 Alex Friesen moved to the United States , where he first played for the Chicago Wolves before moving to the ECHL to the Kalamazoo Wings .

For the 2013/14 season Friesen went back to the American Hockey League and played there for the Utica Comets , which also belonged to the organization of the Kalamazoo Wings and the Vancouver Canucks . In the 2015/16 season , the native Canadian also played his first and only game in the National Hockey League for Vancouver and then continued to play in the AHL for the Utica Comets. In 2016, Alex Friesen moved again to the Chicago Wolves in the AHL.

For the 2017/18 season, Alex Friesen dared to move to Europe to Leksands IF , after just one season he moved to Germany to the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven .
