Niklas Andersen (born November 20, 1997 in Esbjerg ) is a Danish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) since the 2020/21 season .
Career
Niklas Andersen started his career at his home club in Esbjerg , where he went through every youth department. In the 2012/13 season the Dane made his professional debut for Esbjerg IK in the 1st division . In the following season he made his debut with Esbjerg Energy in the Metal Ligaen , but at the same time played for Esbjerg in the 1st division. In the 2014/15 season, the Danish striker made 36 games for Esbjerg Energy and scored 18 points (11 goals, 7 assists). He was also voted Rookie of the Year and reached the playoff final, but lost to SønderjyskE Ishockey with 1 : 4 in the series.
After his first successful season, Andersen tried his luck in North America with the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League (WHL). There he scored in 47 games also 18 times and then moved back to Denmark to Esbjerg. In his first season after his return he reached the playoffs with Esbjerg and was able to win the championship. Andersen has been a regular regular at Esbjerg Energy since the 2017/18 season and was the top scorer for the first time in the 2019/20 season (14 goals, 23 assists).
In April 2020, Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven announced that they would sign the Danish striker.
