The 2019/20 Metal Ligaen season was the 63rd season since the founding of the top division in Danish ice hockey , which has been called Metal Ligaen since 2014 . The main round will take place from September 6th, 2019 to March 10th, 2020. The defending champions are Rungsted Seier Capital . The Metal Ligaen is represented in the Champions Hockey League by Rungsted Seier Capital and in the Continental Cup by SønderjyskE Ishockey .

mode
In the main round , the nine clubs complete a double triple round with 48 games per club. The top eight teams in the main round qualify for the quarter-finals. Starting this season, the mode will be changed in the playoffs. Instead of being able to choose your opponent, the following scheme is used: 1st against 8th, 2nd against 7th, 3rd against 6th and 4th against 5. All play-off games from the quarter-finals to the final are played held in best-of-seven mode. There are three points for a win in regular time, two points for a win after overtime or a shootout and one point for a loss after overtime or a shootout. The best 4 teams after 16 games take part in the Metal Final4. The Danish ice hockey cup will be played there on January 31st and February 1st, 2020.
